If you are travelling in Southwest Florida two of the better locations to observe or photograph birds are in the Cortez fishing village just west of Bradenton and the Venice Rookery south of Sarasota. In both of these locations the birds are very tame. I have photographed pelicans, herons and egrets from distances as close as 3m.(10 feet).
